School students and youth have come up prepared with flags, Anna-masks, face painted, temporary tattoo's of Anna's face on their arms; much alike the mad crowd seen during the IPL matches at Ferozshah kotla stadium few meters from this maidaan.
Young couples came in to protect themselves from the eyeballs of their relatives, Few group of friends , "all drunk tippsie" , were present enjoying the noon. When asked about their intentionsof being in the protest, their reply came," Idhar music hai, masti hai, bas hit gaane suno aur ladki dekho..! " ( It's music here, fun here, listen to nice melodies and check our girls.). The maidan witnessed the rally regulars too viz. the pick pocketers, who had great season of business . The nearby GB road, had a 25% increase in their business during the night hours,in its red light quarters.
This crowd even consisted of people who hardly knew anything about the Jan lokpal bill. Not a single person below 35 years of age could speak a single word about "JP movement". Oh, on the other hand "the Techies" were confused if they were being asked about the JP Morgan company, JayPee Group of construction owners or something else?
There was a girl, shrieking her soul out , "I am Anna", " Corruption go back " . When this girl was asked by a media guy about her stance on the corruption quotient of A Raja, she replied back,"A Raja is a corrupt minister who stashed money in Italy and bribed the prime minister".
Several villagers were "made to" gather at Ramlila maidaan who had no job and their mass contribution to the protest will each be provided with a Rs.100 per day, for the "Business at maidaan" .
And children were provided with sweet candies "for free" throughout the day from nearby vendors placed for this conpired business deal.
So this was the mass that crowded , rather were made to crowd at the Ramlila Maidan to protest against corruption in support of Annaism. It was a picturesque that was drawn after the 65th independence day of india when an old man ,with his back to the camera and facing hundreds of followers, stood up to change the nation's fate. This whole scene was "cooked up" by several media strategists and professionals with great precision of answering to the camera's with high voltage words of protest against corruption.
Though 50000 or say 500000 people were out into this proetst throughout the nation, but still the rest 15 crore people of India were sitting at home, either watching the protest on screen of their TV's or Pc's or reading newspapers while time permitted. Hardly 5% of this mass were in support of this "pre-designed Drama" !
Abhinandan Sekhri, a former TV professional helped Arvind Kejriwal for several of his media campaigns prior to Anna-ism days. With Sekhri leading the team, many young journalists and volunteers studying business were managed for press releases, running updates in social networking sites like twitter and facebook and making presentations to be delivered on and off screen, throughout the country.
Several media strategists placed "the Anna videos" and videos of un-solicited supporters , onto Youtube under their planned scheme of acts. From bhajans to Gandi caps, everything was well planned by those media makers.
On the first day of Anna's protest in April, a huge picture of " Bharat Mata" was placed behind Hazare. When a muslim leader who had turned up there in solidarity objected the need of the picture for it being associated with RSS; was replaced by the picture of Gandhi by the " Team Anna" , as they love to be called.
Talking about "the Plot", Sekhri also admitted that Anna's statements praising Gujrat CM, Narendra Modi and RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav's dais sharing with Hazare, were uncontrollable "errors" made during the protest.
Anna might have his own mind for fasting in public but gaining mass support and rest of the episodes of mass protest was " manufactured" by Anna's team, comprising Sekhri and his team member's. It was Sekhri who glued in the idea of posting the video's of Anna's arrest to boil the already boiled bloods of the country ( because of the recent scams and scandals including 2G, CWG, A raja ).
The same Anna who spoke about the removal of corruption from every nook and corner of the society including the high profiled business dealings across the nation, couldnot answer any significantly when encountered with heaps of questions regarding anti corruption in every corner of the country after the bill gets passed ," rather if passes" , when asked during an episode in " Ap ki Adalat" in a news channel. He baffled when kejriwal started giving his "gyans" as learnt prior to the show!
Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi kept on blabbering about their planned consent for the cause, while tweeting live from Maidaan. The media hungry planners also sought an interactive way to get "consent" from supporters sitting at home, by dialing a number for a single ring to count on the supporters. They declared of recieveing 13 million missed calls so far. Well, how many of these were from the team member's of Sekhri, further the members of " Team Anna" ?
Even the selection of the date, 16th of august as the starting date for Anna's fast was a strategic idea. This was he date in 1933, when Gandhi started his fast in the prison, after he was not allowed to work with " Untouchables". The supporters standing for Anna, didnot claim to agree that Hazare might be a saint but not an constitutional expert nor does he has any idea, how a bill is drafted and passed according to the Indian constitution.
Supporter's carrying placards with quotes - ' Ye hai hamaari andhi sarkaar,Band karo ye Bhrastachaar" , standing in the crowd were hardly aware that the media professionals along with the Anna team are gorging in, huge amount of money that's been placed into this high voltage drama where in an old man is the protaganist for the show but the main villians are sitting quite in the background ,working out their own selfish bindings and dealings.
This whole method has been criticised by many of the intellectuals, across the world and with several laughables made about this whole scene for rather than hitting the " emotion" of an Indian, by placing a 74 year old man to die in a shot, as a Gandhian ensembled leader for the protest; the whole Jan lokpal bill could have been proposed and passed with teaching the mass about its necessity, what changes it might deliver to the society with the buildings of lokayukts around the states, with the small steps that can lead to eradicate corruption atleast on a higher level of the business and political deals throughout the nation,if not on a small scaled margins in different departments.
People would still be pushing a 100 rupee note into the pockets of a traffic policeman to fred from any charge of breaking the traffic rules.A father would still be paying lumpsome amount for getting his son or daughter admitted to reputed educational instituions. A new employee would still be giving 2000 rupees to a "Dalal" for sorting out a passport's application in the government office and the policeman would still be taking 500 or a 1000 rupee note to rush in the passport after verification.
The UTA's ( "Under Table Activities" ) would still be religiously maintained across the length and breadth of the nation. Ohh, this might not be under the "acts of corruption" cause without these "daily activities", our country won't be able to breathe in for any commitments.
